Description: 

The Technical and Process Coordinator will organize and direct the process area teams in sustaining continuous improvements in manufacturing throughput, equipment uptime, and product quality for all processes at the Oklahoma plant.  Track, prioritize, and assign responsibilities for the process improvement projects that improve EH&S, quality, throughput, and product costs.  To organize, direct and control all activities relating to quality assurance that will ensure production of a consistent and high quality product at a minimum cost.  Provide leadership as the mill’s primary contact for technical issues relating to Business Process Improvement, field complaints, and product development.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the main process (mini-mill) control, efficiency, quality output, cost savings/avoidance, and training for Green End, Heat & Energy, Forming & Pressing, and Finishing Departments.  Dotted line responsibility for the Quality Department. 

  • Implement revisions to product control plans to improve product quality and productivity. Insure compliance to Company management of change procedures which may require updates to the Change Approval Committee (CAC) team. 

  • Initiate and direct projects that resolve operational issues and improve the overall OEE of the plant equipment and processes.  Implement and sustain methods and procedures to utilize Overall Equipment effectiveness (OEE) as the primary measurement for the mill’s productivity.  Ensure completion of training on all modifications or improvements with the affected employees. 

  • Oversee lab operations and QC inspections/testing process.  Ensure quality test procedures meet the COMPANY required elements.  Maintain quality control testing equipment in accordance with operating standards.  Will work closely with our third party testing agency to ensure conformity at all levels of our testing protocol.  

  • Provide leadership in the identification and resolution of product determined to be out of tolerance through inspection and/or Quality Assurance testing.  Have authority to isolate sub-standard product and to make necessary adjustments in the manufacturing process as it relates to product quality up to and including production shutdown. 

  • Identify the critical to quality process checks and product tests to be conducted throughout the manufacturing process.  Initiate and train where necessary the use of control charts and check lists to insure compliance by production associates. 

  • Install and maintain systems for the control of product quality.  This includes the installation and     maintenance of materials, job-process materials and finished products and various operational procedures and practices.  Monitor conformity with these specifications and standards. 

  • Ensure that the highest standards of employee, customer, and public relations are maintained relative to his/her area of responsibility. 

  • Evaluate employee performance for those employees supervised and semi-annually complete employee performance evaluation reports.  Develop a succession plan, initiating on-the-job training to prepare subordinates for future advancement.  

  • Handle disciplinary action with the guidance of the Human Resources Manager in a fair, uniform manner and in accordance with plant and company policies. 

  • Assure adherence of employees to plant and company policies with regard to safety.  This includes proper, safe operation of equipment, following lock-out/tag-out procedures, wearing of personal safety equipment (hard-hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, etc.) and an alert, attentive attitude by employees. 

  • Provide leadership for sustaining the statistical process control and ISO 9000 styled programs.  May perform other duties such as, but not limited to, in-house audits and help maintain our work instruction data base. 

  • Work with the Innovation team on the introduction of new products in a creative and efficient manner to yield commercially successful products.  Advise and assist Innovation team in the development and improvement of quality assurance procedures. 

  • Take on increasing levels of responsibility in the organization. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager. 

Requirements: 

  • B.S. degree in a technical field (BSEE, BSCE, BSME, etc...) preferred.

  • Technical knowledge of particleboard, OSB or MDF Manufacturing Process (requires experience in wood panel plant as a Technical/Quality Manager).

  • Experience in ISO 9000, Lean Sigma Black Belt with demonstrated leadership. Willingness to learn, Six Sigma certification a plus.

  • English Language Skills (written & verbal), excellent communication skills, strong work ethic, hands on approach to work.
