Education Required: 2 or 4 year degree in Engineering preferred
Years Experience Required:  Significant Reliability systems experience required. 5+ years of manufacturing maintenance management and 8 years of total maintenance experience along with the areas of reliability methods and techniques.  Wood panels experience preferred.


The Maintenance Manager in Michigan will be responsible for the performance of the maintenance team. Owns the overall activities of employees engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate Leads. To ensure the highest level of equipment reliability, using a cost effective, proactive and predictive approach to maintenance and planning in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. 


  • Lead the development of the maintenance organizational structure and team based, self-directed and empowered work system.

  • Support the development of Maintenance systems, job plans, preventative and predictive maintenance programs.

  • Large capital project and greenfield experience required.

  • Participate in the development and delivery of training programs for Maintenance Technicians.

  • Participate in the strategic direction of the site.

  • Ensures safe work practices are implemented and being followed in accordance with prescribed Company or State policies.

  • Participates and Leads safety programs.

  • Owns all maintenance key metrics i.e. Uptime, accuracy of mill down time data.

  • Lead and support the Asset Reliability Process (ARP).

  • Develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.

  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.

  • Supports the inspection of operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.

  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.

  • Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.

  • Collaborates with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.

  • Support other departments to ensure their needs regarding maintenance issues are understood and are solved in a timely manner.

  • Prepares maintenance related budgets and monitors expenditures.

  • Oversees, coordinates and reviews maintenance project activities to determine time frame, funding limitations, and procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.

  • Be a member of the Plant Site On-Call rotation. Expectation is to be on-site within one hour of a call-in. 


  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in manufacturing or distribution
  • Experience with maintenance programs (SAP is preferred, Maximo (CMMS), or similar).
  • 5+ years of experience as a Maintenance Manager.
  • 8 + years of experience in maintenance field.
  • Experience in managing large scale projects, such as major capital projects to modify or improve critical equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and generate results.
  • Sound decision-making abilities.
  • Vision for future state and continuous improvement.
  • Financial knowledge.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and lead self-directed work teams
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint 

Preference will be given to candidates with the following experience:

  • Degree in maintenance, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field of study.
  • Previous experience in construction – related projects (capital projects)
  • Allen Bradley and/or previous PLC experience, along w/ power transmission, automation experience.
  • Experience in wood or paper products is a plus. 
  • An understanding of calculating mathematical concepts (ex: calculating density, air flows, thermal oil systems, calculating horsepower, electrical usage, etc.).
